A surfer from St. Petersburg was catching waves a near the Jetty at New Smyrna Beach, Florida when a shark showed up.
It was just before noon when the shark bit Jordan Lefebvre on his left foot.
“I looked down and next thing I know I was getting pulled by a shark. It kind of dragged me around. I got free from him, paddled in and came over here to the hospital,” he said.
The 24-year-old made it back to the beach under his own power. His foot was bandaged on the beach and went to the hospital on his own.
This is the seventh bite reported this year at New Smyrna Beach, Florida.
