Craig Ison was bitten by a shark yesterday.
The 52-year-old was surfing at dawn at Evans Head Australia.
He was just about to sit up on his board when he was flipped over.
The former boxer fought with the shark suffering lacerations to his arm and right hand.

The shark (possible bull or great white) bit his hop and upper thigh and left a 15-inch bite mark on his left side.
Mr. Ison was able to paddle back to shore where beachgoers were able to tie a tourniquet around his leg to stem the bleeding. Their quick thinking helped saved Mr. Ison’s life.
Tracking sharks is familiar with several incidents where the victim was removed from the water, but succumbed due to blood loss and/or heart attack. This makes stopping blood loss a high priority.
Thankfully Mr. Ison’s muscle is still intact and he is in serious condition at Lismore Base Hospital.
Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.
