A possible shark bite has been reported in Florida.
A man was bitten on the ankle while wading in the knee-deep water off the Sawgrass Country Club’s Beach Club at Ponte Vedra Beach on Thursday around 4 p.m.
The unidentified man had small lacerations to his ankle that had already been bandaged by the time St. Johns County Fire Rescue personal arrived.
He told rescue personal that he believed that he had been bitten by a shark. He was transported to the Baptist Medical Center Beaches for treatment of the minor injury.
There have been a total of fifty-four shark attacks bites in 2016. Five of which were fatal. Twenty-three reported in the US, with fifteen occurring in Florida. Eleven have occurred in Australia, three of which were fatal.
