Airplane Beach area located to the west of Maui Hawaii has been closed after an apparent shark bite.
According to the AP The Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources state a 50-year-old snorkeler saw a five-foot shark, was bumped and then immediate pain.
The man, who originates from Homer Alaska was able to swim back to the beach.
He was taken to the hospital and received treatment for lacerations to his leg.
The incident occurred Thursday afternoon
There have been several shark related incidents on the island this year including one bite.
In October a surfer fought a tiger shark with his surfboard and two separate paddle boarders were knocked in the water.
I have marked the incident on the 2014 shark bites attack tracking map under bites.
I was unable to find the exact beach location. If you know exactly where it is, please let me know in the comments.
