An 11-year-old was bitten by a shark in Huguenot Park Florida on Saturday.
The girl was in waist-deep water playing with a family member around 5:45 p.m. when she was bitten on back, hand, and left arm.
A nurse who was visiting the beach assisted the family as the administered first aid to the wounds as another member of the girls family flagged down a patrol truck.
She was transported by ambulance to the UF Health Jacksonville for emergency treatment.
The girls suffered a severed tendon in her left arm and had have stitches on her hand and fingers.
She is at home until an orthopedic surgeon can schedule an operation to repair the damage to the tendon.
A second shark attack bite occurred in Florida on Sunday. Mary Macus was bitten on the thigh while swimming 100 yards off Vero beach. The 57-year-old received several stitches for puncture wounds and released from the hospital on the same day.
This is the twenty-eighth shark attack bite of 2016. Three of which were fatal. Eight total in the US, with seven occurring in Florida(total does not include the above mentioned Mary Macus shark bite).
