A 44 year-old man was paddling just offshore of Indian Harbour Beach around 1 p.m. EST Sunday when he was bitten on the hand by a shark.
“He was surfing and said he was not too far from the shore,” said Cpl. John Knudsen of the Indian Harbour Police Department. “(The shark) took a piece out of his hand. It grabbed hold of his left hand. He’ll need stitches, but he will be OK.”
The man told witness that shark was around 2 feet long.
He was taken to Holmes Regional Medical Center for treatment.
In April of this year a 44 yo man was bitten in the foot in the same area.
Location of the incident has been added to the 2014 shark bites attack tracking map.
